Any viewer can guess Dany and Jon are huge players who will ultimately play key roles, but that’s strategy. What we see here is their character. Dany, the liberator enjoying the worship of the people surrounding them. Jon, the warrior climbing up from a certain death among the men he asked and consequently chose to fight for him. There’s such strong contradictions and they’re executed by coloring and positioning. When they shot the first image back in season three the main purpose of it was to give a highnote to the low point in the previous episode. The show even got a lot of critique for displaying a white woman with the white savior complex so victoriously.
As is often in this brilliant story crafted by a brilliant man, the high points are as misleading as the low points. Indeed, it suggests that Dany’s entitlement is actually purposefully done, rather than accidentally. It suggests Jon’s martyrdom and this low point where he’s in absolute hell, is actually a high point in that he will be the one to oppose Dany.
Is this for sure? No, I know nothing. We know Jon getting trampled was a last minute addition so his gasp for air might have been too.
Consequently, this shot might have been entirely on accident and the comparison is accidentally too. Time will only tell. I choose to think this is by far too accidental and that this big budgetted show, relying on heavily thematic narrative, knows what it’s doing and some fan caught on.
